How to treat CONSTIPATION naturally

Not a day goes by where I don't see someone coming in for psyllium husks or seeking out constipation remedies. But I find that psyllium will make people more constipated because they don't use it correctly as they already have such a dehydrated picture.

Now while there can be many reasons for your constipation, (and it is very important delve into the root cause) here are a few practical suggestions to keep things....in motion....

  • Drink more fluids, especially water.

  • Avoid salt

  • Eat more wholegrains, vegetables and fruit – including the skins, if they’re edible.

  • Include pre-biotic-like resistant starch's such as red, brown and black rice

  • Prunes, broccoli, kiwifruit, sulfur-free dried fruits and liquorice can all help move your bowels.

  • Be physically active.

  • Don’t delay bowel motions – go when you feel the urge.

  • Avoid straining or forcing a motion, as this can cause haemorrhoids (piles)

And SWAP psyllium for CHIA seeds.

They are an excellent source of fibre, protein, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, vitamin A, C and E and omega 3.

So lets eat chia pudding every night

1-2 tsp chia seeds

1 cup of nut milk

2 heaped teaspoons of slippery elm powder

1-2 tb of cocoa powder

1 tsp of coconut sugar

Put all ingredient in a lunch box and shake vigorously. Leave to soak for a few hours and add more nut milk if desired.

* You could also put a tablespoon of chia seeds in your water and drink them throughout the day

Please feel free to make an appointment to discuss your constipation. I love talking sh*t
